670 Grams, brainchild of ‘MICHELIN Young Chef Award Great Britain and Ireland’ winner and Great British Menu finalist, Kray Treadwell, is due to receive a refresh to its Gibb Street restaurant.
The extension will see the restaurant expand into the site next door, across both the upstairs and downstairs floors. The kitchen is due to double in size, and the restaurant will increase from 16 to 26 covers. The majority of the tables will now be upstairs, with guests able to have their table for the entire evening.
A brand new bar will be added, which guests will be able to visit and enjoy bar snacks without a table booking. There will also be a brand new private dining space which will be able to accommodate 10 – 12 people.
More courses are due to be added to the restaurant’s tasting menu, which are yet to be revealed.
Previously labelled ‘Birmingham’s hottest restaurant’, 670 Grams is a bite-sized eatery housed on Gibb Street within the Digbeth Estate. Its August 2020 opening saw it launch with a three month waiting list. The restaurant’s name was taken from the weight of Kray’s daughter when she was born four months prematurely.
670 Grams promises an ever-evolving menu which is available to view 48 hours earlier on the restaurant’s website. The menu takes in a mix of European influences and Asian-inspired flavours. Playful dishes such as ‘Lamb Dressed As Mutton’ and ‘Leopard Print’ appear, as well as dishes with calls to Kray’s relationship with his fiancée, Sacha, like ‘Pumpkin’, which is reminiscent of Sacha’s favourite drink, the pumpkin latte.
Kray said, “I am so excited to announce that we will be extending 670 Grams. The new additions and extra space will allow us to keep creating and serving food that is accessible as possible. My aim has always been to bring my electric take on food to as many people as possible, and it is important that this continues. Our menu represents amazing value and our location on the Digbeth Estate means we are in the midst of a great mix of retail, residential and creative businesses. We can’t wait to welcome people into the new space and to introduce 670 Grams to an even bigger audience.”
