Brum’s self-love dance party just landed and it’s getting rave reviews

Girl Therapy is a community of self-love gravitated millennial women in Birmingham, originally put on the map with their widely read daily emails (the daily mini self-love pep talk to help women build emotional resilience in their day-to-day lives).

Now the Brum-born movement has launched a weekly endorphin-inducing self-love dance class called The Sermon. Every class is a dance fitness & emotional release mash-up, guided by an MC (your wild & energetic instructor) and a DJ mix by resident DJ Georgia.

It’s the 55-minute mind & body workout that ticks every box for someone who wants to dance ‘til they drop, feel the burn, and let go. You’ll use movement & inner dialogue to connect with all your senses. It’s a truly euphoric experience. This is the first class of its kind that brings together all the benefits of yoga, dance, fitness & wellness in one class, making it a quadruple threat, and well worth a try.

Founder China Drewitt created the classes because she believes that the self-help trend on social media has had the unintentional side effect of making women feel inferior about themselves, opposed to empowered.

Class-goers of all abilities are strongly encouraged. In fact, the class was created with the beginner dancer in mind, who wants to boogie & let loose without worrying about learning choreography. Instead, you’ll learn simple but addictive moves that you can pick up instantly, turn up your energy for, and slay at. There’s zero dance experience required, it’s just your workout, the way you want it.

Best of all, the instructor gives you regular cues to shout, cry, scream and laugh without inhibitions. No more feeling embarrassed when you just want to yell your way through the sweat & out-of-breathness. You’ll leave your first class feeling like you just had an out-of-body experience, returning to the real world having restored the magnetising girl power you’d forgotten you had.

Classes run every Saturday, 10-11am, at the DanceXchange in Birmingham city centre. It’s just 5 mins walk from Birmingham New Street station, or Thorp Street car park is opposite the entrance.

To get your first class for £6, sign up with your email address at https://linktr.ee/girltherapy, and you’ll receive a discount code in your inbox.

And if you really want to get in the zone for your first class, dress in your cutest gym gear, with an 80s athleisure vibe thrown in. Think bright colour pops, pastels & neons.

The Sermon has only been launched a month, but already had phenomenal reviews… with women calling it a “Spice Girls goddess circle!”. Other reviews include: “Very freeing, fierce and spiritual. It’s given me wings.” “I loved every minute of it, can’t wait for my next class.” “Sweat all my troubles away. Ladies get down to one of these classes from Jan 2020! It’s so worth the ass shake.”

Founder China Drewitt created the classes because she believes that the self-help trend on social media has had the unintentional side effect of making women feel inferior about themselves, opposed to empowered. That inspired her to create a one-of-a-kind sensory & immersive offline mind & body experience, to help women bring their self-care back to reality & feel like they’re practising actual change in real-life.
