ASTE, TOUCH AND SMELL! with Royal Museum of Worcester
March to November 2023
I’ve recently begun a commission with the Royal Museum of Worcester which holds an incredible collection of Worcester Porcelain dating 1751-2008.
I’ll be working with the progressive Monday Night Club – a social club for adults in Worcester with a learning disability and/or autism, founded by one of their members Laura Gill, who develops an engaging schedule of activities for the members from discos to nutritional eating. Together we’ll be exploring the Museum’s Worcester Porcelain collection and histories with the aim of co-creating multi-sensory experiences, providing new ways to engage with the collection and enabling access to a wider audience.
Taste, touch and smell is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to explore Worcester porcelain’s food and drink stories through sensory experiences including workshops, performances, field trips and the Museum’s website.
TASTE THE JQ at GULP
Saturday 25 March and Saturday 15 April, 2-4pm
“Brum dining royalty and sensory visionary, Kaye Winwood, has devised a new vegetarian afternoon tea tasting experience and it looks about as incredible as we’ve come to expect from one of the city’s finest food aficionados. Inspired by a walk around the Jewellery Quarter it will mark the first in a seasonal series called ‘Taste the JQ’ and it will be popping an upping at Kaye’s Wonka-esque 10-seater dining room and food lab, GULP… The extraordinary menu of courses includes PINK (above) which involves beetroot meringue, whipped goats cheese and beetroot powder; MUSHROOMS, which is a mushroom and chocolate brownie (below) … It’s £45 per person and Kaye will map out her walk for you to emulate after your meal” Words by Tom Cullen, IChoose Birmingham.
Taste the JQ is a unique experience inspired by the Jewellery Quarter – this Afternoon Tea meets Tasting Experience is an edible reimagining of the neighbourhood in a celebration of a selection of its key locations, hidden gems and overlooked details. It is a regular event in GULP’s calendar and perfect for curious appetites.

Mangia! Mangia! Supper Clubs are a taste of Italy right here in the heart of Birmingham. Taste the fresh Italian produce straight from Matt’s Birmingham-based allotment as well as special ingredients and home-made liqueurs.
This very special edition of Mangia! Mangia! Supper Club is a celebration of the Italian way of eating at Easter. Guests can expect a convivial evening of delicious food, freshly prepared in GULP’s kitchen. Matt will prepare a traditional 4 course Italian Easter dinner consisting of
Antipasti
Easter Lamb or Artichoke and Spinach Lasagna (V)
Pastiera Napoletana
An Easter surprise
As part of the dinner, each guest will be gifted a traditional Sicilian delicacy of Angello Pasquale – a beautifully hand-painted marzipan lamb (pictured above) to take home.
For this supper club we are delighted to be working with 1485 Wines to source the perfect wines to pair with the meal. Founder Peter Bridgewater prides himself on seeking “unique wines for unique occasions” sourcing wines “from boutique-artisanal producers who care passionately about the land, the vine, the grape, the environment”. We were impressed by the lengths Peter goes to to source wines, travelling by coach, train and bicycle from UK to Italy to lower his carbon footprint. He works with wineries spanning from the North to the South of Italy producing unique wines from international and rare local varietals, selecting from vineyards who hand pick their grapes, produce and bottle on site.
£60 per person (excluding wine). Bookings can be made here.

“Kaye created a bespoke meal and food experience for my husband’s 40th Birthday. It was superb: so creative and absolutely delicious. She responded to my brief perfectly. A true once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget! Thank-you Kaye for making such a wonderful memories for us.” Charlotte
CASE STUDY: Charlotte approached me to create a dining experience for 8 guests for her husband’s 40th based on his life journey from Tehran to Birmingham. The event began with Leaving Tehran on a Magic Carpet in the form of a Persian Herb Frittata, served on an intricate ‘carpet’ of yoghurt and spices (pictured above) and landing in Birmingham with an Eastern Mess – an Eton mess inspired dessert with cardamom infused Brummie Bird’s Custard, meringue, peaches grilled with cinnamon and honey, raspberries and mint (pictured below). There were courses in between stopping at a few of his favourite places, including The Shire and the Mos Eisley Cantina!!
