The loaf of bread everyone is talking about is finally coming to Birmingham!
Yes you read that right, the famous Japanese milk bread, Shokupan has finally landed in a store in Brum!
If you’ve been searching for the perfect milk bread you can now pick up a loaf from the award winning zero waste shop ‘The Clean Kilo‘ in Bournville. They are first place in the West Midlands to sell Japanese Shokupan by the loaf. Stores in London and NYC have seen queues and record sales of the Shokupan in recent years!
Japanese Milk Bread aka Shokupan, is possibly the best version of soft white bread! Known for its milky-sweet taste and pillowy softness, it’s enjoyed daily in Japan as breakfast toast and sandwich bread.
Co-Owner of The Clean Kilo, Jeanette Pell said “We’ve always been passionate about innovation at The Clean Kilo, from our local products, an outward-thinking approach to shopping and what we can offer package free. We’ve never aimed to be ‘on trend’ but sustainability became popular and these milk loaves are now too! I love Shokupan and have tried to bake it at home, so we’re of course excited to now be selling Shokupan loaves in store! However, it’s not just about the product itself, we are working closely with our local bakers Shokupan by Gup Shup to reduce unnecessary packaging.”
The square-shaped white bread is incredibly soft, fluffy, and super moist, even after toasting! With zero preservatives and all natural ingredients – don’t forget to put it in an airtight container when you get home! Loaves are available by the half (as pictured) with the introductory offer of £9!
The bread is available in small quantities, so arrive early to avoid disappointment. There will be fresh deliveries every Saturday!
Available for the first time this Saturday 6th May at The Clean Kilo Bournville – 249 Mary Vale Rd Bournville, Birmingham, B30 1PN.
Don’t forget SHOKUPAN toasted buns are also available at their Zero Waste Café Bar – KILO ZIRO, 1 Gibb Street, Digbeth!
