Psychedelic cosmic cohorts, Solar Eyes, are returning for a big show on their home turf on October 14th. This will be held in Birmingham at a new venue space in the heart of Digbeth – ‘The Printmakers’ is situated at 82 Fazeley Street! With its cool, rough and ready, industrial vibe this is the perfect venue for Solar Eyes to showcase their sound, which has been compared to a cross between Ennio Morricone, ELO and a bit of Kasabian/BRMC thrown in for good measure.
The Birmingham duo, comprising of Sebastian Maynard Francis and Glenn Smyth, have had a period of radio silence after taking themselves away to focus on completing their debut album. After signing a record deal with Fierce Panda Records, (Ash, Coldplay, Keane, The Maccabees) the band played Austin, Texas SXSW Festival in March followed by UK Industry Festival ‘The Great Escape’ in Brighton in May.
With their previous releases been used on the likes of BBC Match of the Day, BBC Football Focus, Sky Sports, BT Sports, Made in Chelsea and BBC podcast Gangster they are a band not to be overlooked and are tipped for big things in 2024.
Described by tastemaker John Robb at Louder than War as having ‘Swooping and captivating soundscapes and haunting vocals that pull you in with twanging guitars, and haunting strings that pulls the big sky of the wild west into the mystery of the midlands’.
There’s a Birmingham show on Saturday October 14th – at ‘The Printmakers’ in Digbeth – 82 Fazeley Street, very close to centre of Brum… A very cool space that only holds 300!
