Time to get down and dirty – Seafood City is set to open on July 1st in the Arcadian!

It’s time for Birmingham to get down and dirty as the brains behind Vietnamese Street Kitchen are launching an exciting new seafood boil restaurant called Seafood City in the Arcadian which will open its doors on 1st July.

The concept takes inspiration from the original southern ‘seafood boil’ made famous in Louisiana in the USA’s Deep South, which uses a traditional cooking method to lock in the taste of the sea.  Since then, the cooking style has been adopted by the Vietnamese community and emboldened with new flavours that has taken London by storm and is set to be the next foodie Tik Tok sensation in the Midlands.  The restaurant’s classic ‘City Boil’ includes 5 king prawns, 5 fresh mussels, red roast potatoes, garlic bread, corn on the cob and a sauce of your choice (garlic butter, cajun or hot and spicy) for £15.95.

Other dishes to get excited about include the impressive Signature Combo ‘Don’t Be Shellfish’ with lobster tail, 10 king prawns, 10 fresh mussels, red roast potatoes, corn on the cob and garlic bread.  At £39.90 this can be shared between two or devoured alone, depending on your appetite.  ‘The Feast’ offers a larger version, including snow crab cluster, for four people to share at £115.

Fans of lobster won’t want to miss the satisfying lobster roll – a seaside treat with fresh lobster meat tucked into a buttery bun lightly dressed with mayo and a squeeze of lemon, served with salad and fries (£21.95)

Those who aren’t big on seafood won’t get crabby as the chicken burger (£16.95) and chicken tenders (£17.95) offer a delicious alternative.

Cocktail lovers will enjoy sipping on refreshing blends such as Lychee Coolers and Passionfruit Daiquiris as they don their aprons and get their claws into their seafood (£8.95 or two for £15).  A choice of tempting mocktails is also available for £5.95 including the Sweet Sunset with pineapple juice, hibiscus, aromatic bitter and lime juice. A selection of international lagers is on tap.

General Manager, Oliver Ngo, is expecting the ‘get down and dirty’ concept to be trending here in Birmingham when it arrives on the scene.

He said: “It’s all about diving right in, putting your bib aprons on and getting your hands messy so that you can enjoy seafood in an unpretentious way. The idea is to bring friends, families and seafood lovers together to enjoy the riches of the sea in the simplest way possible.

“The seafood boil is a wonderful way to enhance individual flavours and textures. Our concept is simple, you can boil your choice of seafood, pairing it with our signature sauce, garlic butter or our XXL sauce for those who like it hot!

“Not only that, but you can mix it up and grill or fry your favourite seafood too.

“Our signature lobster rolls and crab and prawn burger with a side of seasoned fries are a must-try. We will have you hooked in no time!”

The team has been working hard to create bold flavours and memorable experiences and the result is a lip-smackingly good mouth-watering menu that takes you on a tasty adventure capturing the best of the sea from lobsters, crab, shrimps, oysters, mussels, clams and crawfish. It’s the perfect treasure hunt for seafood lovers!

The brand concept and interior design by Faber is an explosion of neon colour and bright lights and will be just as bold as the menu.

Inspired by the energy and visual excitement of Asian cities, the designers coined the term ‘retro-futurism’ – think K-Pop meets Tokyo – a bold and colourful identity inspired by Japanese typography.

The 1700 square foot venue is in the unit once occupied by Rozu and will seat 99 people inside with a cocktail bar as the centrepiece, plus outdoor seating for lazy days in the sun, sipping cocktails. The independently owned business has created 22 full and part-time jobs.

Vietnamese Street Kitchen already has successful venues in Bullring and Resorts World and is looking forward to launching its new concept, Seafood City in the Arcadian.
