Drink & Draw x GULP
An Ode to the Artist’s Apple
Cezanne once said, ‘I will astonish Paris with an apple’ but who needs Paris when you have Birmingham right on your doorstep?
Creator and event host Felicity Blades has teamed up with sensory artist Kaye Winwood to bring you another unforgettable experience all about the iconic artist apple. This unique evening will draw inspiration from the long history and rich symbolism of apples in art. From ‘Adam and Eve In Paradise’ by Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach to the Surrealist ‘The Son of Man’ by René Magritte (pictured above right), the apple has been a constant on the canvas. Representing temptation, knowledge, sex and death; the humble apple provides an endless source of creative inspiration.
The evening will include a brief history of arty apple highlights and some drawing exercises led by your hostess to get you warmed up. After which you’ll be invited to create your own masterpiece from sculptural still life table settings.
The ticket price includes all art supplies and drawing references, and to complete this one of a kind experience, there will be complimentary apple-y treats and nibbles. A pay bar will be available serving some delicious apple-inspired drinks to whet your appetite. Book here
