Birmingham baby activity day to celebrate a year of the NSPCC’s Look, Say, Sing, Play

Free events for parents and carers of children under two will be held at The Library of Birmingham next week to celebrate 12 months of the NSPCC’s Look, Say, Sing, Play campaign in the city.

The library in Centenary Square will host the drop-in event between 11.15am and 2.30pm on Friday, 28 June, with fun games and activities to help families nurture a strong bond with their baby and to help support baby brain development.

Families across the city can bring their children along to explore the different activities on offer that will include singing, sensory stories, bubbles and much more for little ones up to the age of two. Parents can also learn about the science behind the games and activities on offer.

Laila Khan is a parent who attended a previous Look, Say, Sing, Play event in Birmingham with her son Raheel.

She said: “We found the Look, Say, Sing, Play activities to be really fun, Raheel really enjoyed himself. The activities and games are beneficial in helping with his development and I would really recommend this event to any parents with children around his age.”

This event also marks the end the year-long campaign that has seen more than 600 childcare professionals trained in Look, Say, Sing, Play techniques by the NSPCC, helping to build a legacy for children in Birmingham.

Rachel Wallace, NSPCC Local Campaigns Manager for Birmingham, said: “We would like to welcome all families, and their babies aged under two, to our special NSPCC Look, Say, Sing, Play event.

“This event marks the end of our Look, Say, Sing, Play campaign here in Birmingham where we have helped parents to enjoy higher quality interactions with their baby.  We’ve also trained hundreds of professionals across Birmingham, including health visitors, children’s centre staff, and early years practitioners, to continue using Look, Say, Sing, Play well into the future.”

Parents can drop in on the day, but anyone who books in advance will receive a free goody bag on the day. To reserve a place, please visit: bit.ly/LSSPFamilyDay
