Birmingham Independent Food Fair to serve up the city’s finest food and drink

A new food fair will showcase the wealth of independent food and drink in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Birmingham Independent Food Fair takes place at Millennium Point, on Saturday 13 September 2014.

Food and drink stalls will be spread throughout the futuristic Millennium Point complex, featuring sampling, chef demonstrations and cocktail mixology.

The innovative Eastside Park will provide an outdoor arena for street food traders.

Philip Singleton, CEO at Millennium Point, said:

‘We’re delighted to be hosting this event and celebrating the independent food and drink businesses of Birmingham. Birmingham is so well known for its food and there’s certainly an appetite for a food festival in Eastside.’

Birmingham Food Fair 2Visitors will be able to taste specialist food and drink products, meet and talk to artisans, and shop for locally-produced goods to take home.

Among the categories represented at the fair will be Spirits & Wine. The section will be sponsored by Langley’s No. 8 premium gin distilled in Birmingham’s Langley distillery.

The region’s brewing industry is also set to be well-represented, with an area dedicated to craft beer and real ale, which are enjoying an upsurge in popularity.

Birmingham Independent Food Fair is organised by Dine Birmingham, with support from Visit Birmingham. It follows a successful pilot event, #FutureFoodies, in 2013.

Dine Birmingham editor Ahmed Ahmed said:

“There’s so much enthusiasm and excitement for the city’s fantastic independent food and drink. The time is right for Birmingham to set out its stall as one of the country’s top food and drink destinations.”

Birmingham Food Fair 4His comments echoed those of Emma Gray, Director of Marketing Services at Visit Birmingham:

People within the city and beyond are realising that Birmingham is a serious contender in the culinary stakes. This fair is the perfect place for visitors to discover our top-quality restaurants, bars, cafes, producers and street food traders.”
