Birmingham’s independent bar and restaurant operator Bitters ‘n Twisted Venues is set to open their newest Bodega Cantina in Sutton Coldfield this March. The new venue will be the fifth Bodega Cantina, all of which are based in the Midlands.
Bodega Cantina, located on the bustling Birmingham Road in Sutton Coldfield, is opening following a £150,000 investment. Other Cantina’s can now be found in Worcester, Derby and Leicester. Sutton will the first Bodega Cantina to open in the suburbs.
Bitters ‘n Twisted founder Matt Scriven said:
Opening Bodega in Sutton Coldfield has been on my radar for over 3 years now and I’m very excited that we’re finally able to bring our South American inspired hospitality to this vibrant area. We’ve recently updated our food and cocktail menus as well as our website and it feels like now is a really important time in the development of Bodega.
The launch of Bodega Sutton has created 12 new jobs. Its interior focuses on iconic South American imagery including sugar skulls, Mexican wrestlers and of course football to create a playful, informal and quirky environment.
The demand is definitely there for authentic, fresh, easy going South American food served in fun and quirky surroundings. People like the fact we can offer really tasty great quality food alongside the vibrant and colourful atmosphere associated with South America without the uniformity of a chain. added Matt.
The menu will be a seasonal offering with popular street food favourites including Nachos, Quesadillas and Burritos. Also featuring on the menu – Quinoa Chifa – A delicious Chinese-Peruvian stir-fry containing quinoa, tofu, broccoli, sliced vegetables and spring onion in a teriyaki spiced sauce, Sticky Agave Sweet Potato – sweet potato cubes, black olives, queso fresco cheese and agave syrup and Xim Xim, a delicious Brazilian classic -chunks of chicken, prawns and diced vegetables in a thick creamy peanut butter and coconut milk sauce with spiced rice and tortillas.
And for those with a sweet tooth, Mexican Churros, warm doughnuts, sprinkled with cinnamon and served with a rich caramel sauce are expected to go down a treat.
Bodega Sutton Coldfield welcomes families with a dedicated “Ninos” menu and has a separate dedicated menu available for vegans. The menu also has clear Gluten Free signifiers, allowing anyone with a dietary requirement to enjoy the menu with little fuss.
As well as food, the venue also serves up a range of South American inspired hand-made cocktails, mocktails and both the beer and wine menu showcase some of the most popular brands enjoyed in Brazil, Argentina and Cuba.
