A Black Country businessman has defied expectations of a lockdown slowdown by investing in a new £200,000, 1,000 square foot office and doubling his team.
Action Coach Black Country, which was setup by Andy Hemming in 2007, has supported hundreds of Black Country businesses and now has an annual turnover in excess of £750,000.
The advisory firm has generated hundreds of millions-of-pounds in revenue for the businesses it works for, with 62% at least doubling in size. As a result, more than 2,000 Black Country jobs have been created.
During lockdown, the business worked with businesses from Halesowen to Walsall helping them survive and, in some cases, thrive.
One such business is Willenhall-based gym equipment supplier Wolverson Fitness which managed to double its turnover during a period when a lot of its European and UK counterparts closed for business.
Action Coach Black Country helped Wolverson Fitness transition from a pre-lockdown position where 90% of its revenue was from large-scale commercial gym installations to providing people across the UK with the equipment that they need to stay in shape at home.
Wolverson Fitness Managing Director, Jason McCarthy said: “Both Lewis and Andy from Black Country Action Coach were an incredible help at a time of major change. The closure of gyms in March 2019 brought an end to our main source of revenue and saw many of our competitors shut up shop both here and across Europe. Working closely with my team we successfully transitioned the business to meet the demand thousands more individual customers from across the country.”
Andy Hemming, owner of Action Coach Black Country, said: “We support business owners during all periods of their business life cycle. At no point in recent history has there been a more fundamental period of change than Covid-19. There are more than 33,000 enterprises in the Black Country who time and again they have shown that they can adapt and prosper in times of uncertainty. This latest expansion will allow us to support even more business leaders to achieve their professional and personal ambitions, creating jobs and enhancing the Black Country economy.”
