Father John Misty has been revealed as the first headline act for Moseley Folk and Arts Festival (Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August 2025, Birmingham).
The acclaimed US artist joins the long-running festival line-up alongside BC Camplight and previously announced Cornish shanty sensations, Fisherman’s Friends.
Having joined Fleet Foxes for a period, singer-songwriter, musician and producer Josh Tillman returned to his solo career in 2012, adopting the moniker Father John Misty. He’s since scored five UK Top 20 albums, with 2022’s Chloe And The Next 20th Century peaking at number two.
Following the summer 2024 release of his career-spanning Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams And My Dreams Said To Crawl compilation, Father John Misty’s sixth studio album is the just released Mahashmashana. Entering the UK Official Album Charts at number 12, the 50 minute collection has been praised by critics for its luminous melodies, storytelling, and adventurousness.
In the run-up to his Moseley Folk and Arts Festival headline spot in August, Father John Misty visits the UK for a short spring tour featuring three sold-out London performances (including The Royal Albert Hall).
Philadelphian Brian ‘BC Camplight‘ Christinzio began releasing records in 2005, initially backed by musicians who would go on to join The War On Drugs.
Now UK-based, BC’s most recent album is 2023’s filmic The Last Rotation Of Earth. Born out of a period of emotional trauma, and filled with lustrous hooks, classical sophistication and fractured paranoia, it’s been widely described by critics as his masterpiece.
John Fell, Moseley Folk and Arts Festival’s Manager, said: “Moseley Folk and Arts Festival has long championed great storytellers, and they don’t get much better than Father John Misty and BC Camplight. They’re both very different artists, yet both are at the very top of their game.”
Moseley Folk and Arts Festival runs from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August 2025. Situated in a lush hidden park not far from Birmingham city centre, it’s been a regular fixture on the UK’s festival calendar since 2005, attracting an eclectic line-up of leading British folk artists, Americana stars, UK independent artists, international singer-songwriters, and more.
Further 2025 line-up news will be announced over the coming months.
