The feast of film returns for a twelfth year and it’s going to be the biggest festival programme yet…
The ten-day film extravaganza will take place this April between Friday 13th and Sunday 22nd across multiple venues and locations in Birmingham. The full festival programme will be announced early in March but details of some of this year’s highlights have been revealed:
– a rare screening of 1922’s Swedish silent oddity Häxan, with narration performed by League of Gentlemen star Reece Shearsmith
– a series of ‘liveanimation’ performances from Paper Cinema, who after an acclaimed run in Edinburgh will be using their unique blend of cardboard cut-outs and live music to present a vivid take on Macbeth
– Optical Sound will highlight the very best in audio-visual experimentation in a packed weekend of live events and screenings
The Flatpack Film Festival brings an annual jamboree of movie-making delights:- animation, music, artists’ film, archive discoveries, offbeat shorts for kids and live cinema. The dedicated and passionate team are firm believers in creating a sense of occasion, exploring the fertile territory where film bumps up against other artforms, and showing people things they might not otherwise have seen.
Further details of the Festival programme and tickets will be announced in the coming weeks. Keep up to date on the Flatpack website or by following the festival on Twitter.
