The Iconic Grade II listed Ramada Resort Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton has turned green this Blue Monday, as part of a region-wide-campaign to raise awareness around mental health.
The hotel and spa based on Park Drive also used the occasion to launch its contribution to the Chatty Café campaign, which is an initiative led by Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street. Each Chatty Café acts as a dedicated area where people can meet and talk to others if they are feeling alone or isolated.
Regular events and lighting supplier, Paul James Promotions transformed the front of the hotel with green spotlights as part of the Blue Monday campaign.
Said to be the most depressing day of the year, due to poor weather and post-Christmas blues Blue Monday falls on the third Monday in January (20th).
Led by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) with support from the Ramada Resort Park Hall Hotel, Library of Birmingham and Dudley Council the turn green for Blue Monday campaign aims to raise awareness of mental health and the support that is available.
Dion Fanthom, digital marketing executive at the Ramada Resort Park Hall Hotel and member of the West Midlands Young Combined Authority Board with a focus on mental health, said: “Mental health is still seen as taboo within our society even though at least one in four of us will experience a mental health problem each year. The more that can be done to raise awareness about this issue and the support available the better.
By turning the hotel green on a day like Blue Monday we’re hoping to encourage more people to take the time to invest in themselves and their own wellbeing. We have launched our Chatty Café to encourage people to take some time out away from daily life and come and talk to each other – whether that’s with existing friends or meeting new friends and hopefully the local community and even our staff will benefit from this.
The grade II listed hotel has 74 luxury bedrooms, an onsite health club and spa, two-onsite restaurants, including the authentic Indian fine dining restaurant, Anju’s as well as 5 acres of landscaped gardens.
