Following the growing success in 2024, the JQ Beer Weekend, celebrating all that’s wonderful about beer, is coming back to the Jewellery Quarter this Spring, organised by the JQBID. From Thursday 10th April to Saturday 12th April, 27 venues across the area are taking part in the third JQ Beer Weekend. Visitors who buy a drink at six different venues will be able to collect six stickers in exchange for a free JQ Beer Weekend t-shirt (limited availability), featuring our cheeky seagull mascot – Gary the Gull!
The Jewellery Quarter isn’t just a place for making and selling jewellery, it also has a thriving food and drink scene. The area is packed with hip new bars and classic old-fashioned pubs, serving a huge range of real ales, craft beers and even local brews, with Burning Soul Brewery, The Taproom, and Rock and Roll Brewhouse making beer right here in the JQ.
Our Beer Weekend has something for everyone with family friendly pubs, beer gardens, roof terraces and dog friendly bars galore. There’s also plenty of places to grab some food alongside a pint – with pubs that serve everything from curries to a Sunday Roast featured in the Beer Weekend. There are also special events and offers to check out on all three days – everything from discounted drinks, to live music and DJ sets. There’s time to visit all your old favourites and discover a few new pubs too, whilst still drinking responsibly of course. Check the event sticker book for details of opening times, events and any special offers for each venue.
Visitors who pick up a JQ Beer Weekend sticker book from any of the 27 pubs, can collect stickers from each venue where they purchase a drink (including non-alcoholic drink options). Six stickers can be redeemed for a t-shirt (limited availability) at one of the six collection points throughout the Quarter.
The six t-shirt host venues, who are our event sponsors, showcase the wide variety of fantastic venues we have taking part:
The Rose Villa Tavern – a traditional pub at the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, with a beautifully tiled interior, warm welcome, great pints and views of the Chamberlain Clock. It doesn’t get much more JQ than this!
The Red Lion – Recently taken over by Joules Brewery, this old Jewellery Quarter favourite continues to go from strength to strength, with award winning roasts and one of our favourite beer gardens when the sun is shining.
The Rolling Mill – Sports Bar and Restaurant, with loads of great deals on food and drink including bottomless lunches. We love all the spaces at The Rolling Mill – including the quirky mezzanine with its transport mural – harking back to the industrial heritage of the building.
The Indian Brewery Taproom- Enjoy super fresh tasty beer brewed on site along with Indian pizza, pool, interactive darts and live sports on the big screen.
The Wolf – The Wolf stock the widest range of beers we’ve ever seen in cask, cans and bottles, including an excellent selection from local breweries. They have been craft beer specialists since 2017 and are always happy to help you find your perfect pint.
The Barrel Store JQ- The Attic Brew Co. team opened their barrel store here in the Jewellery Quarter in first half of 2023 and it has quickly grown to become a much-loved venue in the area. Nestled under the railway arches this is a great place to grab their award-winning craft beer as well as the brand new Deathrow Pizza, serving incredible fully customisable pizzas with a wide variety of options to choose from.

“We were thrilled with the huge success of the first two JQ Beer Weekend events, which have been a brilliant way to showcase all of the wonderful pubs and bars here in the Jewellery Quarter. We are so excited that this year will be even bigger – with more venues and more beers to try. We are also very grateful to our wonderful local sponsors whose contributions are allowing us to order even more t-shirts. We look forward to raising a glass and celebrating all things beer with Gary the Gull!’

“JQ Beer Weekend is one of our favourite events of the year, celebrating incredible beer and our amazing community. We’ll be pouring a rotating selection across 14 keg lines and one cask, showcasing a mix of fantastic local brews and beers from further afield – everything from pales to sours, stouts and beyond! Alongside we’ll be serving our full food menu, including pies, nachos, toasties, and our special Philly Cheesesteak Toastie to celebrate the weekend. As a proud T-shirt collection venue, we love being part of this event and can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new visitors for a pint and a bite!”
