Popular Kings Heath coffee shop, Pause, has launched a new light brunch menu after a successful opening month.
Located in Kings Court (High Street) owners Farah Chaudry and Rory McGhie opened their ‘dream come true’ café last month after a series of successful pop ups during the pandemic.
Renowned for quality coffee and artistic baked treats, Pause is ramping up its food offering; providing customers with a carefully curated menu of delicious light brunch options.
Alongside the much-Instagrammed cinnabuffins and decadent brownies, customers can now enjoy light bites including smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwiches, homemade fruity granola, and sourdough topped with goats cheese, honey and blackberries.
Perfect for summer, these new small plates form part of an evolving sweet and savoury menu designed to showcase not only Pause but also surrounding businesses.
Proving community is at the heart of everything they do, Farah and Rory have teamed up with neighbouring bakery Levain and Cherry that provides the freshly baked bread used in many of these creative bites.
After a wonderful opening to the public, we’re delighted to launch our light bites and work with our neighbours to provide comforting, quality food alongside our quality coffee,” says co-owner Farah.
When we made Kings Heath our home last month we wanted to make community a large part of our ethos, and collaborate with other amazing local independents to provide comforting food and drink in an inclusive space.
Customers can still expect our signature bakes, of course. We’re always working on new ideas for sweet treats and our offering will continue to evolve. Our main goal is to ensure everyone that walks through our doors has a warm welcome.
The duo opened the doors for the first time on May 21st and since then it’s been a busy and welcome whirlwind, according to co-owner Rory.
“We’ve been blown away by the support from the people of both Kings Heat and the wider Birmingham area since we opened. There have been so many friendly faces that have come to see us and welcome us into the neighbourhood – we’re loving getting to know everyone who comes through our doors,” Rory says.
“We have fantastic independent neighbours in Levain and Cherry, Borough and Fox and The Milkcake Man, who have all made us feel welcome and proved Kings Heath is such a destination for great food and drink.
“We’re excited to be rolling out our lunch menu over the next few weeks that showcases simple, fresh and seasonal ingredients. The next few weeks and months are going to be a really exciting time at Pause and we can’t wait to share more as we continue to grow.”
Conceived during the pandemic, Pause started life as a home delivery service, providing quality coffee and sweet treats to Brummies before Farah and Rory enjoyed pop-up success in venues across Stirchley and Bournville.
“Coffee shops are all about creating safe spaces for people to just be people – a sanctuary. Life is so busy and with all the running around we find ourselves doing it’s important to have the time to stop, take a breath and find some peace. We have loved our first month in Kings Heath and thank all our customers for their support,” concludes Farah.
Pause is located at Kings Court (90 High Street) in Kings Heath and is set to open Wednesday to Sunday 9:30-3:30. News, updates and announcements are being posted via the Pause Instagram page.
