Listening Sessions, are an electronic music event/community/label in Birmingham, founded in 2013.
Hosting monthly producer showcase events at Club PST in Digbeth, on the first Thursday of every month producers meet up to test their latest creations on the club’s custom-built sound system.
This is the melting pot for producers in the city and the place to hear exclusive music getting its first play out in the open! Listening Sessions also run traditional live music events and have invited some of the most pioneering DJs and producers and labels from around the UK to join the diverse roster of artists within the local community to create some of the most forward-thinking lineups that flow through genres to build and expand as the night develops. You can expect to hear Reggae/Dub, Hip-hop, Garage, House, Techno, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Jungle and more on a single night.
Listening Sessions’ mission is to encourage collaboration, development and diversity within the electronic music community. The grass roots community spirit nurtured by the brand has resulted in a number of signings to both local, national and international record labels. In September the unit have started a music label to share the wealth of talent from within the community with the rest of the world! Their inaugural release, “Contortion/Exoskeleton + Remixes” by Listening Sessions regular Yilan received support on leading UK radio stations such as Rinse.fm, Radar Radio, NTS and was played at a number of leading
electronic music festivals this summer such as Outlook in Croatia.
