The Red Lion has been beautifully renovated in keeping with its original Victorian design. You will be greeted with an ornate dark wood themed front bar, traditional Victorian rear lounge with it’s own bar and free Wifi, a private club room and a small but quaint beer garden for sun trapped lazy afternoons.
As with the Red Lion’s sister pub The Lord Clifden, it shares the Urban Art Bar theme with superb colourful street art on the walls inside and out, from artists such as Banksy, Nick Walker, DFace & Dolk. This adds to the mystery and intrigue of such an old drinking establishment, you can imagine jewellers and silversmiths debating the news of the day over a pint of Mild all those decades ago.
While music still plays a part in the Red Lion’s ambiance, it is more in the way of Jazz nights, a laid back approach with a very traditional feel in a back street location. Here you are more likely to find quiet conversation behind frosted glass windows, sport on the TV, and real ales being pulled for the many locals who visit each week. It’s a gentleman’s pub in the heart of an industrial creative quarter.
