“MUSIC OF MY MIND”, AN EVENT IN COLLABORATION WITH O2 GOTHINKBIG AND YOUNGMINDS
An event showcasing art, poetry, music and a panel discussion by people of colour on the topics of mental health and art.
We are pleased to announce, in partnership with O2 GoThinkBig and YoungMinds, a free one-day event on the 30th of September named “MUSIC OF MY MIND”.
The event will use a programme of poetry, panel discussions and live music performances to explore the causes, and possible solutions, surrounding mental health problems amongst BAME young people.
Contributors to the event include: playwright Demi Nandhra, singersongwriter AFFIEJAM, Young Poet Laureate of Birmingham Nyandavoh Foday, author and spoken word artist Casey Bailey, photographer Luli Ade and a host of upcoming Birmingham-based young creative drawn from the fields of photography, music, poetry and illustration.
Amongst these young contributors we will exhibit new work from comic artist Tavan Maneetapho, painter Gwynneth Posadas, photographer Themba Erik and poet Meghana Reddy. “Music of my Mind” will take place at Muthers Studio, 14 Rea Street South, Birmingham, B5 6LB on Saturday the 30th September between 2pm-9pm.
The event will begin with an exhibition of new original works at 2pm. A panel discussion will be held at 4pm on the topic of mental health and creativity in BAME communities, followed by poetry at 5:30pm and live musical performances at 7pm.
