Musician John O’Brien Beats Terminal Illness to Fulfil UK Music Dream of UK Tour

In 2012 Dr. John O’Brien received the news that would change his life. John was diagnosed with cancer and given a 5% chance of living for 5 years. With the end in sight, the artist thought on the passions he had left unfulfilled.

“The UK has such a rich musical history that has thoroughly influenced my work and I cannot wait to come over and share in that wonderful history.”

O’Brien was fortunately able to fulfill his passion for the planet as one of the United States’ most sought after environmental advisors, but his quest to perform for the UK music scene remained an unlikely dream. However, a powerful rousing motivational lecture by his primary care physician inspired John to believe that there was still hope and he could still live a long life.

With a road to recovery laden with three major surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and months in the hospital, it was not an easy battle but John began a miraculous recovery. Opting to ditch standard physical therapy, he worked relentlessly with a personal trainer for two and a half years to get his body back to touring shape with the dream of being able to tour that country that had originally inspired him decades ago with the magical “British Sound”.

Following years of physical therapy, recovery, and lockdown delays, the contemporary pop-rock artist is ready to bring his live show the John O’Brien Experience (J.O.B.E) on an incredible 6 show UK tour. Theatrical yet tasteful, the live show line-up will see John take the stage amongst a talented roster of UK musicians, in front of a backdrop of breath-taking visual effects to share his music and environmental message.

“My mother was a very strong conservationist and avid oil painter. As a child I was surrounded by scenes of nature and animals as they live in the wild. Since then, I have spent my life fighting to uphold the conservationist ideals she embedded in me so that all manners of beings on this planet can continue to enjoy it for generations to come.”

This heartfelt and authentic message, mixed with outstanding musical style, has seen J.O.B.E enjoy success across seven albums with a highly anticipated eighth entitled Love’s Vexations set to release June 17th, just ahead of the six city UK Tour in July. John’s most recent single, a timely hit infused with the spirit of classic rock’s best – The Spider’s Love Web, boasted over 80k Spotify streams in its first weeks has continued to be a hit on all streaming platforms.

John’s 2019 album – The Love You Need – garnered over 2 million streams across Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, and more. Its 2020 follow up EP That Girl Is Trouble had four hit songs which racked up over half a million Spotify streams alone.

The J.O.B.E live show tour proves a real testament to the power of the human spirit and the global effect that music can have to change lives and perhaps even the Earth.
