Good news for gin lovers, The Old Crown in Digbeth is launching a new botanical gin garden on the 23rd and 24th June.
Birmingham’s oldest pub, situated in the heart of Digbeth, has transformed itself into a beautiful botanical garden full to the brim with plants and it even has it’s very own piano, bathtub and bicycle.
Over the next 9 weeks you can expect a gin bar, street food and takeovers from some of Birmingham’s independent party brands including Off The Scale, The Night Owl, Havana Club & Malibu, DJ Sam Redmore, YES Collective, Shadow City, House of Jealous Lovers and Project Birmingham.
The al fresco setting specialises in gin with over 30 different bespoke serves available alongside an extensive new seasonal cocktail menu featuring many classics including Tom Collins, Gimlets and Aviation.
The weekend of 23rd and 24th June is the official opening weekend with a pre-party hosted by Collore, Cache and Moulin Groove for Amsterdam DJ San Proper followed by a vintage kilo sale from Birmingham’s number one independent trader Off The Scale.
We spoke to owner, Ciaran Healy, who said, “We always enjoy summer at the pub. We’ve worked hard this year creating a new twist for our beer garden. We’ve established new relationships with gin suppliers. We feel our new cocktail menu and gin bar gives something new and unique to Digbeth area.”
Digbeth’s botanical garden is free entry and open from noon – 1am every day. The new garden will host lots of events and special parties including the pubs annual birthday party on August Bank Holiday weekend which will see the pub celebrate there 649th Birthday party.
