Bring your pooch for a party! To celebrate the launch of the new family show, The Dog with Two Dads, MAC and Little Earthquake invite dogs and their pawrents for a special party on MAC’s Terrace.
Bring your fluffy friends to enjoy a special event that celebrates families — ALL families. If it’s just you and your canine companion, if you’re a huge household and you’ve got a whole horde of hounds, or any combination in between, everybody’s welcome! (You don’t have to have anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ in your family to be able to come along — but we do hope that you’ll all be LGBTQ+ allies).
Expect a great playlist to get those tails wagging, have your family portrait taken, a chance to get your creativity flowing with our Family #Pawtraits drawing competition (more details here), plus free dog biscuits for your canine friends! Doggie fancy dress is enthusiastically encouraged.
Please note: Dogs allowed on MAC’s Terrace – Service Dogs only are allowed in MAC’s building.

The Dog with Two Dads | About the Show
Fri 21 – Sun 23 October | Various Times | MAC Theatre | Ages 3 – 7 | BSL & Relaxed Performances Available | From £9
MAC is thrilled to announce a new commissioned show celebrating LGBTQ+ families, The Dog With Two Dads by Little Earthquake, will open this October. The show tells a heart-warming tale of two papas and a pooch, with the underlying message of how important it is to be loved for being exactly who you are.
Ali and Ash are living happily ever after in their teeny tiny flat. Only one thing would make them even happier — the pitter-patter of furry feet!
Even though it’s a big step, they know they’re ready to become #pawrents for the very first time! But to their surprise, not everyone thinks it’s such a great idea… Come and join Ali and Ash on their quest for puppy love as they battle with burpees at Bradley’s Bootcamp, dodge dangerous ducks with Tina Twitcher and flee from the Pet Shop Boy’s pack of piranhas.
Sprinkled with songs and special surprises, this brand-new show is perfect for ages 3 – 7 and their adults.
“No two families are exactly the same — but every family unit is capable of being filled with love, care and kindness. And while our story focuses on LGBTQ+ people and families, the show makes it clear that the exact same principle applies to everybody, no matter who they are or how they live their lives.
“This show is an opportunity for children (and their adults) to celebrate everything that makes their own family unique and special, and perhaps more importantly, to recognise that other family structures are equally valid — even if they look very different from the one they might be familiar with.” – Philip Holyman & Gareth Nicholls, Co-Directors, Little Earthquake
As the perfect introduction to theatre for children, The Dog With Two Dads champions families of every shape and size.
“It’s a gorgeous show, and we’re proud to have commissioned Birmingham-based theatre company Little Earthquake to produce an inclusive theatre experience for families. Programming work for children and young people has always been part of MAC’s history, and platforming LGBTQ+ narratives is core to our work. We think every family will love watching this beautiful adventure live on stage.” – Deborah Kermode, CEO & Artistic Director, MAC
