The award-winning neo-jazz artist  Ni Maxine has returned with a new single, a reimagining of ‘God Bless The Child’ and a slew of live performance dates off the back of sold-out live shows in London and Liverpool last month. The London-born, Bristol-raised and Liverpool-based artist is set to make a triumphant return to Soho, at the iconic Pizza Express Holborn during the EFG London Jazz Festival with two headline performances on one of the most sought-after nights of the year: Saturday, 23rd November, 2024.

Marking the release of her debut EP this Autumn, these shows will present a body of work that chronicles Ni Maxine’s artistic journey. The events will be live-recorded for a special project, capturing the magic of an artist who has always thrived in a live setting.

With her soulful renditions and innovative approach to music, Liverpool’s Ni Maxine is poised to leave a mark on the jazz world.  This Summer Ni performs at Turner Sims Summer Festival in Southampton on 29th June, and Mostly Jazz Festival on Sunday, 14th July in Birmingham.

A recent ‘Ode to Billie Holiday’ show featured reimaginings of Billie Holiday songs alongside Ni Maxine’s originals, weaving the stories of two Black women, existing almost a century apart, acknowledging the parallels and celebrating the progress while continuing to spark conversations for change.

Recognised for her conscious lyricism and timeless vocals, Ni Maxine has earned comparisons to jazz legends such as Billie Holiday, Sade, and Erykah Badu. She is the recipient of the Youth Music Award for Original Track Award (Solo), and a Drake YolanDa Award (Yolanda Brown). With notable appearances at the EFG London Jazz Festival, Gilles Peterson’s ‘We Out Here’ and Love Supreme’s ‘Supreme Standards’ these latest live dates are an opportunity to witness Ni’s inimitable talents.

Ni is also co-founder of The Wombat Jazz Club, alongside photographer and partner Keeks redefining access and community in the Liverpool jazz scene. The Wombat Jazz Club’s signature event, ‘The Jazz Project,’ is held monthly at Granby Winter Garden in Toxteth. Here, Ni Maxine invites artists who uphold jazz’s rich tradition, fostering a space where jazz thrives as a Black expression. Since January 2024, the club has also hosted ‘TOGETHER’ at Ettie’s on Bold Street, featuring intimate performances and intergenerational dance nights with North West legends like Andrew Ibi and Dharma Collective (Otra).
