PANIC ON THE STREETS OF BIRMINGHAM – The Smiths & Morrissey Disco

Established in November 2014, this night was created by Scott Falconer and Elliot Slawinski. Two massive Morrissey and The Smiths fanatics from Birmingham. They regularly attend the infamous Star and Garter night (Smiths Disco) in Manchester and realising there was nothing similar within the whole of the Midlands they decided to hold a three monthly event at the wonderful Eden Bar on Sherlock Street in the heart of the City centre. The lads also support and are friends with similar nights in Glasgow and Newcastle.

With an epic six hour DJ set playing a blend of new and old Morrissey tracks and classic Smiths songs threaded in between. A giant screen pulses still images and video footage from the early 80’s to present day, including scattered memorabilia and an array of Morrissey’s favorite flowers fill the room. From the first night, around 150 strong Mozarmy crammed into The Eden, and since then POTSOB has gone from strength to strength. This night also held a sold out after show party on the 27th March 2015, when the man himself (Morrissey) played to a packed out Barclay Card Arena.

The up and coming event on Saturday 12th December hosts Julie Hamill (author and founder of the World renowned Mozarmy fan club) being interviewed by fellow author and Morrissey mad Dickie Felton about her new book release “15 Minutes With You” a collaboration of talks with famous Morrissey fans. Julie will also be holding book signing sessions in between dancing to her beloved Steven Patrick Morrissey!

This will kick off yet another charming night and believe me it really is the opposite to morbid, as some stereotypes may suggest!  From geeks to goths, punks, metalheads and indiebods, people gather young and old within the plush setting of Eden Bar’s impressive permanent marquee.

Panic On The Streets Of Birmingham is most certainly a fabulous homage to Morrissey and The Smiths unique and successful career, and most definitely will have you dancing and laughing and finally living!

So if you’re a fan, come along… This night will open your eyes!
