Aitch, Caity Baser, Jonas Blue and Sugababes have been announced to perform at The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming event taking place at Utilita Arena Birmingham on 12 September.
Hosted by The Last Leg’s Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, the show promises to be a golden celebration as the ParalympicsGB team return, bringing the nation together in welcoming home our athletes after what is all set to be another incredible performance in Paris.
Set among the highlights from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this landmark event will combine the worlds of music, entertainment and sport to celebrate our Paralympians as they return from Paris, with lucky National Lottery players in attendance to celebrate the nation’s Paralympic sporting heroes.
The event, which will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday 14 September, will feature collaborations and performances from some of the UK’s best loved artists, and will be a moment for the nation to celebrate the team’s incredible achievements, dedication and passion. Further artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
National Lottery players have the opportunity to enter a ballot to win free* tickets as a thank you for powering ParalympicsGB to success since National Lottery funding into high performance sport began in 1997. The ballot for The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming event is now open with 9,000 tickets up for grabs. Those entering for tickets will be required to confirm they have a National Lottery ticket that they can present on the day of the event.
Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker of The Last Leg, and hosts of The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming said, “Having hosted the last event in 2021, we’re stoked to be back for The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming, especially off the high of Team GB’s achievements at the Games this year.
“Having chatted with many Paralympians in recent years, we know how dedicated they have been on their journey to Paris and how much difference the support of National Lottery players makes to their ability to get to the Games. Featuring a packed line-up of iconic UK artists and athletes, the event will be a wonderful moment to recognise the accomplishments of this year’s athletes as they return home, as well as thank National Lottery players for the role they’ve played in helping them achieve that success.”
Today’s announcement follows the success of Saturday’s (17 August) Team GB Homecoming event in Manchester, where, alongside many of Team GB’s stars from Paris, audiences were treated to unique performances and collaborations from a range of artists, including Clean Bandit, James, Jess Glynne, Myles Smith, Rag’n’Bone Man and Pete Tong to mark the return of the Team GB athletes from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Both events are being held as a way to thank National Lottery players whose funding helps support Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes to be the best they can be. Thanks to National Lottery players, over 1,000 elite athletes currently benefit from funding which allows them to devote themselves to their sport full-time, with access to world class coaching, facilities and support teams.
At the Tokyo Olympics, ParalympicsGB won an astonishing 124 medals and finished second in the medal table with a record breaking 18 different sports achieving podium finishes.
