The much-anticipated Popeyes® restaurant officially opened its doors on Birmingham New Street this morning, with fans eagerly queuing from 7:30pm the night before to be the first to try the brand’s famous Louisiana chicken.
The brand-new restaurant, which can be found at 66 New Street, is the first walk-in venue for Popeyes® in Birmingham, following the successful launch of its delivery kitchen earlier this year. Eager fans of the brand waited in line from 7:30pm on Thursday 1st August to pick-up their very own taste of Louisiana soul-food.
Popeyes® brought the spirit of New Orleans to New Street to celebrate the official opening in style. The first 50 people in the queue were decked out in exclusive, orange Popeyes merch. Local influencer Vish Popat was on hand to entertain the queue as they waited for doors to open, and New Orleans-inspired band, The Brass Funkeys, played the first customers through the door.
Muhammed Rahman was the first in the queue, having arrived at 7:30pm on Thursday. “I’d been to the Popeyes® in Stratford and loved it, so I wanted to be the first in the queue in Birmingham.” He said “It’s great for the whole family, and the Hot Wings are my favourite”.
Birmingham’s chicken lovers can now experience Popeyes’® world-famous ‘shatter crunch’ chicken. The new restaurant’s menu includes the iconic Chicken Sandwich range, Hot Wings, Tenders, original Southern biscuits and gravy, and Cajun rice. Kids ‘Poppy’ Meals are available all day, featuring a Kids Chicken Sandwich, wrap, or tenders.
Popeyes® breakfast ‘Chicken Brekkie’ menu will also be available daily. Packed with ‘reimagined’ breakfast classics such as the Big Cajun Breakfast Roll and Cajun Hash Browns, breakfast is served from 8am to 11am.
Popeyes® also offer a 25% student discount via UNiDAYS.
