Birmingham’s best soul and retro nightclub The Night Owl is channelling their love for The Rolling Stones and the circus for a night of rock and roll entertainment for all the family.
50 years ago, The Rolling Stone’s famous Rock and Roll Circus saw some of the big acts from the 1960s including The Who, John Lennon. Eric Clapton, Jethro Tull and more perform under the big top. The show was filmed and then shelved after Brian Jones’ death, with thoughts that half the footage was lost or destroyed. Some footage was found and released in the 1980s where it has become a part of rock and roll history.
The Night Owl is taking the spirit of the circus for their own rock and roll extravaganza on Sunday, December 16th. Based on Lower Trinity Street, Digbeth, The Night Owl has pulled out all the stops to put their own spin on Mick Jagger’s creation with live music from local tributes.
After performing at their sell out 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, Peters Plays Lennon will be covering Beatles and Lennon classics. Popular local three piece The Acoustic Who will follow before Rolling Stones tribute Get Stoned headline the night with their authentic sound, style and Mick Jagger persona.
The event has music, entertainment and more for all the family; local performer Ed Quigley will pulling mysterious, magical tricks up his sleeve and The Magic Ball Man will be creating optical illusions with crystal balls and a spectacular light display. There will also be face painters and hot food available throughout the day time event.
The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus takes place 2pm – 8pm on Sunday, December 16th at The Night Owl. Advance tickets are available from www.theticketsellers.co.uk. Children attend free with a paying adult.
