Solihull Council and Culture Solihull are proud to present the second annual Short is Beautiful Film Festival, which will take place on 22 October at Cineworld in Touchwood, Solihull. Short film makers living in the West Midlands are invited to submit their entries, with a chance to win awards in a range of categories and have their films shown on the big screen during the festival.
Short is Beautiful aims to support and develop filmmakers from across the West Midlands and is part of an ongoing artist and creatives development support programme. Short is Beautiful is open to receiving entries from any genre, whether animation, documentary, drama or experimental – the judges are interested in how you tell stories, explore ideas or concepts in short-form content.
As well as featuring a host of short films from talented West Midlands filmmakers, Short is Beautiful will also host a live Q&A with a judging panel of industry professionals. All shortlisted finalists will receive two complimentary tickets to the festival and a selection laurel.
Winners of each category will be announced at the festival and each category winner will receive a winner’s laurel, certificate, and £50 Amazon gift card. A separate award will be presented for the ‘Best Overall Film’.
Categories are:
– Trailers and films under 5 minutes
– Films between 5 and 10 minutes
– Films between 10 and 15 minutes
– Films between 15 and 20 minutes
Lewis Clements was winner of ‘Best Overall Film’ at last year’s festival and returns this year as a judge. He says, “Winning Best Overall Film at Short is Beautiful was incredibly rewarding. The festival was a fantastic experience that gave us the opportunity to see our work on the big screen and connect with other talented filmmakers.”
Films can be submitted via Film Freeway – entrants must live in the West Midlands. The submission deadline is 4 August and entries cost £6 per film.
