On the 21st April 2018 Birmingham’s Seasonal Markets returns with their first ever themed market. The event will be taking place in our regular stomping ground – The Bond Company, Fazeley Street, Digbeth. A beautiful canalside venue, with cobbled courtyards, this is a beautiful and unique urban oasis and we’re excited to be hosting another Seasonal Market.
Entry will be £2 with under 12s free. We’ll be open 12pm-6pm for everyone to come and have some cheesy fun – with cheesed-up street food, bars, DJs and a Market Hall of 20 traders selling cheese and all things cheesy.
The street food line-up includes some of Birmingham’s favourites from halloumi fries to cheesecake waffles. Streetchef Peter will be doing what he does best in making halloumi fries – crunchy sticks of golden cheese. In addition, self-proclaimed ‘purveyors of filth’ The Original Patty Men will be bringing a double cheese burger special to the menu especially for those attending the Cheese Festival. Alongside, English Indian will be cooking up their famous Indian-style Halloumi Fish & Chips. We’re also welcoming Chris Huges who will be making grilled cheese toasties.
Street Souvlaki will be their 50 years of experience to their Greek Barbecue and have developed some specials showcasing the best Greek cheeses in the business. Recently voted Europe’s Best Street Food Trader, Baked in Brick will be bringing an awesome special to the table – triple cooked Mayan gold heritage potatoes, smoked burrata and Iberico face bacon. Alongside our veterans of mobile trading, the cheese festival will also be hosting their first pop up fondue restaurant allowing attendees to take out a fondue pot and pick from a range of bread and charcuterie to dip with. Not only this but bringing all the alpine favourites will be Raclette Brothers making cheesey dreams come true and Bake My Brie, doing just that and adding on their best homemade chutney toppings. As for desserts, the Bournville Waffle Company will be doing a cheesecake takeover – turning their entire menu into cheesecake specials!
To keep everyone hydrated, we’ll be inviting Dig Brew Co. to bring their tap house to the bond, offering some exciting new craft beers to enjoy. Likewise, the Cocktail Caravan will be offering up some Spring time favourites as well as Prosecco by the glass and bottle. For those wanting to pair their cheeses with great wines, there will be a well-stocked wine bar offering the traditional accompaniment for all of the cheeses available at the festival.
Aside from our exciting food & drink offering, Seasonal Markets will be hosting 10 exhibitors offering all sorts of cheese paraphernalia from cheese boards to chutneys. Notably, Birmingham’s best cheese purveyors Anderson and Hill will be coming along to sell the best of the best cheeses from across the UK and beyond. We’ll have traders bringing along all sorts of jams and chutneys, breads, pies & salads. Our favourite bakers, Bake will be bringing along a host of cheesy specials and Canapes by Gill will be representing all sorts of tarts and scotch eggs. We’ll also be inviting our favourite artists, designers and makers to fill the hall with some an array of entirely unique crafts, gifts, designs, prints, clothing and homeware and showcase the best designs that Birmingham can offer. Our traders bring a whole other level of uniqueness to our festivals by bringing their local and handcrafted goods together from across the city – this event will be no different and we’re looking forward to seeing how our traders incorporate the cheese into their wares!
