Staffordshire based charity Caudwell Children has been chosen as the charity partner of Children’s Activities Week, which will run from 13th to 19th May across the UK.
Children’s Activities Week organised by What’s On 4 Kids is the UK’s largest annual celebration of children’s activities, which will see thousands of children attending from all parts of the UK. This year’s event, featuring the popular #WatchMeFly theme, aims to showcase the positive impact of activities, clubs, and classes on families and young ones. It will include various activities, opportunities for fancy dress, and exciting sponsored challenges.
All funds raised from Children’s Activities Week will be donated to Caudwell Children, directly funding its services for both practical and emotional support, including autism assessments, powered wheelchairs, sensory equipment, employment mentoring and much more.
Caudwell Children is changing lives and society in a range of ways, having built a powerful support network for children with disabilities and their families. The charity is striving to create a world where all children are provided with the opportunities, dignity and understanding they deserve.
Caudwell’s Director of Executive Projects, Ben Sutcliffe, said: “Caudwell has come a long way since its inception in 2000. We’ve gone from just supporting a few families in Staffordshire, to an international charity that aids over 78,500 children.
“Our mission is to provide practical and emotional support through our services, doing whatever it takes create a better world for disabled children and their families.
“We are constantly evolving and expanding our services to help even more individuals, and through a range of campaigns, projects and activities, we promote inclusivity and solidarity”.
Children’s Activities Week shines a light on the extraordinary work of activity providers and the multi-faceted benefits they offer children.
Mr Sutcliffe continued: “We are lucky to have found hundreds of amazing activity providers and supporters that all share our vision and values through Children’s Activities Week.
“This is a campaign that’s particularly close to our heart, focusing on the importance of nurturing crucial skills in children, helping them grow as individuals and develop new passions and goals.
“This is perfectly exemplified in the passion and dedication of the activity providers themselves, celebrating their commitment to enhancing the wellbeing and development of children across the nation”.
Joining the event as an ambassador this year will be X-Factor winner and celebrity ‘Mum of the Year’ Sam Bailey, a key supporter of the cause.
As the mum of an autistic child, Sam has been open about sharing the challenges of raising her son and the importance of increasing inclusivity, awareness and support for children with disabilities.
Commenting on her personal connection to the cause, Sam said: “Every day is a battle, and there’s always a new struggle to face with problems at school and just in general.
“To be able to relieve some stress with fun activities in an environment where people understand my son and his needs is fantastic. It’s also very important to support the cause, as it raises money in a way that will help parents in a similar situation to me”.
