The Digbeth Challenge returns for 2024 with £1000 in amazing prizes

A whopping 45 of Birmingham’s ‘Creative Quarter’ hospitality venues are coming together this year to see who’s got what it takes to win the Digbeth Challenge! Make your way around The Ruin, Autobrew, Roxy Ballroom and many more to win a share of £1000 in prizes from local venues, as well as exciting rewards throughout the year from the businesses taking part.

The first person to visit each venue this year for food & drink (with photo proof) will win the grand prize, including a £300 voucher to spend at The Ruin!

The challenge originally started with a mural on the wall of local pub The Ruin, which features an ever-growing list of the nightlife venues in Digbeth. The Ruin’s owner, Rich Hughes, wanted a way to celebrate the diverse number of venues in the area: “There’s such a range of venues in Digbeth, from house and techno clubs to fine dining restaurants and all sorts in between. That’s why we love throwing down this challenge each year because anyone who can get around them all deserves a prize!”.

Last year’s event was a “winner takes all” challenge, and it took until August for the mammoth task to be completed. However, the second-place challenger was only a week behind, and so this year’s event has shifted to support the runners-up, and ensure that everyone taking part will be rewarded for the effort!

To keep excitement going for the challenge, prize draws will be taking place on certain weekends, where you will be entered to win free drinks, vouchers and more from local businesses, just by taking part! Here’s a few of this year’s prizes:

  • The Ruin – £600 voucher (split between the top three challengers)
  • The Floodgate – a night out for six
  • The Crossing – any two tickets & two drinks
  • Autobrew – £15 voucher
  • Subside – a drinks hamper
  • Mockingbird Cinema – free tickets & drinks
  • Kilo Ziro – 15% off first round for participants
  • The Night Owl – two drinks and two tickets to any event (excluding brunches)

To tick off venues on the list, challengers will have to take a photo of themselves eating or drinking at the venue, posting it on Instagram and tagging both the venue & The Ruin. In order to make sure everything is from this year’s challenge, photos will need to be timestamped (this is done automatically on your phone), and each venue must be clearly identifiable. Once you’ve beaten the challenge, submit all your evidence to info@theruindigbeth.com to claim your prize.
