The Thai Classic Opens in China Town

Southside are excited to welcome a new restaurant located in the heart of the Chinese Quarter. The Thai Classic, owned by Zi Wen Boo and Jeremy Mun officially opened its doors this month offering authentic Thai cuisine at an affordable price.

The Thai Classic’s Head Chef, Phoomsri Rangsan, has brought his culinary expertise from Thailand, offering the perfect harmony of sweet, sour, hot and salty flavours that are true to Thai cuisine.

Situated at the back of the Arcadian car park, the intimate setting has 30 covers and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

Zi Wen Boo and Jeremy Mun, have created a concept offering affordable Thai cuisine in the Chinese Quarter, where Thai food has been difficult to find and often expensive.

“We wanted to keep all the authentic flavours of Thai cuisine on the menu, but also have some dishes that are less spicy, less sour and less sweet, while still remaining authentic, that’s what makes us different.”

Dishes you can expect are Tom Yam Goong soup, Gaeng Massaman Curry, Grilled Crispy Pork Bao Bun, Fisherman Soups with Vermicelli, Pad Kra Pao, Pla Pad Kra Pao – Thai Holy Basil Seabass, and more.

The restaurant also offers a variety of special drinks, including Cha Yen – Thai Milk Tea, Chao Kuay Nom Yen – Thai Iced Pink Milk with Grass Jelly, Cha Manao – Thai Lemon Tea, and Butterfly Pea Lychee soda.

The restaurant’s decor has been specially imported from Thailand, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home. You can see golden artworks and statues adorning the intimate space.

As the weather warms up, The Thai Classic plans to host a series of tasting events, giving guests the opportunity to try all the authentic flavours of Thailand. The owners, who already own the popular Malaysian Delight in Chinatown, are excited about what the future holds and hope that their guests will welcome their new restaurant as well.
