Meet the Winery
Wednesday 4 October, 7.30pm
At the time of writing, we have one seat remaining at our shared table for this unique food and wine pairing with 1485wines and Mangia!Mangia! The wines will be presented by Denis Bottacin from the Moscone Winery Piedmont – a 21-hectare estate based in and around the revered Barolo appellation in Piedmont. Moscone’s wine-making origins date back to 1877. Now run by 4th generation cousins Sara and Marco who combine tradition with contemporary to produce fine artisan wine!
We launched SWALLOW in September and what a treat it was
This new social event for Birmingham’s queer community. A collaboration between Matt of Mangia!Mangia! and GULP on a flamboyant menu of food and drinks each month. As part of SWALLOW we invite an artist to design the menu. Last month was the gorgeous Maz Niall aka @girthofvenus (pics above) and for October we are delighted to be working with Edward Luke Thrush aka @elthrush, one half of @windowartists
SWALLOW is Birmingham’s first queer supper club (as far as we know) hosted by Mangia! Mangia!’s Matt O’Callaghan and co-curated with GULP.
Another exciting collaboration coming up with Annabelle Davis of Honey & Rye.
A six course vegetarian journey through autumn. Taking inspiration from the orchard in the Warstone Lane Cemetery and surrounding areas, the menu will reveal the deeper meanings and rituals behind some of the everyday foods we eat!
With so many shared interests LIQUID GOLD was written in the stars – a dreamy collaboration between Robert Wood and Kaye to create a stellar cocktail evening called Liquid Gold.
Set in GULP’s hidden gem of a space, Liquid Gold will be a monthly opportunity for the more curious of appetites to experience a playful evening of delicious cocktails unlike anything else in Birmingham. We will work on a new menu each month, with playful presentations and unexpected twists and turns inspired by just about everything and anything. The sky is the limit!
Covers from 5pm. Bookings are via email. Deposit £10 per person.
C.U.Next Tuesday Networking
Tuesday 31 October, 7pm
A SPECIAL EVENT in the C.U.Next Tuesday galendar.
After the hugely successful launch in September, we are back with another networking event for women. The evening will start with a sip on a welcome drink, followed by delicious (possibly Halloween themed?) nibbles, very much with a GULP spin!
Guests will sit together at a shared table for free flowing talk. The intimate nature of this event is a great way to meet new people and converse freely in a safe space. A pay bar will be available.
£20 welcome drink and nibbles. Book your place here
Welcome Molly!!
I am delighted to welcome Molly McDonagh (pictured above left) to team GULP (two of us now!). Molly is joining me for a day a week over a few months as part of the University of Birmingham B-Experienced Programme. Molly is just starting a masters degree at the University of Birmingham in Sociology, with the aim to help create diversity and inclusivity in policy, and will be helping me with project planning, business growth, social media and also working with @themondaynightclub2011 and @the_morw toward Taste,Touch and Smell (recent trip to Croome Court with MNC, above right). We are going to have such a great time working together and learning from each other!
Taste, Touch and Smell at Museum of Royal Worcester
Since March, I have been working with Worcester based Monday Nite Club to create a sensory response to the collection at The Museum of Royal Worcester. We have had a series of creative workshops to look at food, scents, sounds and clay – some of this will be presented in the museum’s collection on a longer term basis.
The aim of ‘Taste Touch & Smell’ is to consider the sensory potential of the collection at the Museum of Royal Worcester, and in turn make the collection more accessible to a wider audience.
The project launches 18 November, after which it will be open to the public.
7, 14, 21, 28 November – C.U. Next Tuesday co-working

10 November – F*LK is part of a series of exploratory collaborations between Mark Parsons, Tereza Buskova and Zoe Simon. An alternative and performative life drawing event, exploring UK & Slavic rituals and traditions.
