Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Charity invites the public to take on its annual In-Memory Woodland Walk to help raise funds to support bereavement services at the two hospitals.
The walk will take place at Lickey Hills Country Park on Saturday 18 May and provides families with the opportunity to come together and remember loved ones in a special and uplifting way, before taking on either a 2.5km or a 5km walk at their own pace.
Walkers are encouraged to invite their families and friends to take part and get sponsored to raise money for the bereavement services at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals, who support grieving families following a devastating loss. The dedicated bereavement team, made up of specialist midwives, nurses, family support workers and care coordinators cares for over 2,000 grieving mums and dads every year.
Miranda Williams, Head of Public Fundraising at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Charity, said: “Our incredible bereavement teams need support, now more than ever before, to provide the very best to families when they’re at their most vulnerable.
“By coming together to remember loved ones and getting sponsored to take on the gorgeous walking routes, every penny raised by walkers will make a huge difference to countless families when they’re faced with the unthinkable.”
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome on the walk and the charity has suggested a £100 per group minimum fundraising target. Registration for a family of four, two adults and two children, is £12.
