Rebel brides and grooms from across the UK are heading to Birmingham’s Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza 2018 show this March to defy tradition, decline the ordinary and push their personalities to the fore as they plan their dream alternative wedding days.
“Do your day your way” is the organiser’s motto and their encouraging cohorts are the 70 creative suppliers urging them to “celebrate your tattoos, rock your trend and bring forth your passions”.
According to a Wedding survey by Confetti magazine, 14% of couples are now choosing an alternative theme for their big day as they shy away from classic traditions.
This free-spirited approach is reflected at the event with the famous couples parade which will see geek accompany goth, punk parade with psychobilly and vintage vixen hang out with the hipsters creating possibly the most diverse fashion show in the UK.
Couples spend an average of £15k on their wedding day so eager bridal couples will be snapping up unique couture dresses, dapper suits, vintage bouquets, gothic jewellery and Game of Thrones-themed cake centrepieces. Big name show sponsors and alternative wedding specialists Rock n Roll Bride and Mr & Mrs Unique will then help couples turn up the volume on their actual wedding days with videography, music, props and styling expertise.
Co-organiser Jo Bromley from The Couture Company says
We are full to the brim with everything that is different in the wedding world and all our suppliers are hand-picked for their creativity and unique services.
Ensuring the entertainment is just as memorable as the theme 47% of couples now hire a live band and 40% a photo booth. Co-organiser photographer Sassy of Assassynation has shot over 200 unique weddings
I love shooting unconventional weddings capturing the magic, fun, and energy of couples showing off their vintage hairstyles, incredible tattoo art and the glorious colours of a themed wedding that leaves aside boring old beige.
There is a chance for visitors to get expert advice, take part in craft workshops, enjoy top class street food and drink, have fun in the photo booths and gaming stations plus a chance to win big prizes in the sheep treasure hunt competition.
The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza takes place on 17th and 18th March at The Bond Company in Digbeth with tickets available in advance for only £8.
